The Question

A goal is scored. Before play restarts, the referee realises there was an extra person on the field of play when the goal was scored. What should the referee do?

The Answer

The answer - at least according to the LOAF - appears on page 47 of the 2007-8 copy of that august publication.

Here is what the LOAF has to say:

The referee shall disallow the goal if:
• the extra person was an outside agent and he interfered with play
• the extra person was a player, substitute, substituted player or team official associated with the team that scored the goal

The referee shall allow the goal if:
• the extra person was an outside agent who did not interfere with play
• the extra person was a player, substitute, substituted player or team official associated with the team that conceded the goal

Entry to the competition is FREE.  It is open to all paid up members of Harrow Referees' Society.

E-mail your answers to
hrscomp@fsmail.net by midnight on the Sunday before the meeting.  To qualify for the prize you must be at the meeting to collect it in person.

The winner will be selected at the next Society meeting through a draw of all the correctly submitted entries.   No correspondence will be entered into and the management committee's decision is final.
